The Wahls Diet™

This foundational diet emphasizes nutrient-dense foods to support mitochondrial function and overall health. It focuses on consuming a variety of vegetables, fruits, and high-quality proteins while avoiding processed foods, gluten, dairy, and refined sugars. This is the most basic level to kickstart your system by infusing it with intense nutrition.

The Wahls Paleo Diet™

Building on the principles of the Wahls Diet™, this version aligns with paleo guidelines, eliminating grains, legumes, and dairy. It prioritizes whole, unprocessed foods, including lean meats, fish, vegetables, fruits, and healthy fats, to further reduce inflammation and promote optimal health. This is the next level, and where many people may choose to stay, as it provides more structure to further eliminate dietary elements that can compromise gut health.

The Wahls Paleo Plus Diet™

An extension of the Wahls Paleo Diet™, this plan incorporates additional elements like fermented foods and organ meats to enhance nutrient intake. It focuses on optimizing gut health and nutrient density, supporting more comprehensive recovery and wellness. This most challenging level is also the most therapeutic for those with autoimmune conditions.

The Wahls Elimination Diet™

This diet is designed to aggressively combat inflammation by removing foods that commonly promote inflammatory responses. It’s a low-lectin diet that eliminates common allergens and irritants, such as gluten, dairy. It also follows the three levels of the Wahls Protocol™, aiming to reduce foods that exacerbate inflammation and to reset the immune system. This temporary diet typically lasts a minimum of 12 weeks, ideally extending to 6 months. After this period, eliminated foods are gradually reintroduced while monitoring for any symptoms, allowing individuals to identify specific triggers and tailor their long-term dietary approach.

Some third party insurance companies may cover appointments or laboratory costs. While most laboratory costs will be covered under OHIP there are some in depth laboratory investigations that will require a fee.
